Abraham Mercado
Vice President
Abraham brings more than a decade of experience working on the front line of complex and controversial projects, issues and ideas. He is a highly-skilled and multi-lingual communicator who is most comfortable and most successful developing strategies when the stakes are high. He is regularly called upon to represent Fortune 500 companies and government agencies facing potential or actual crisis situations requiring grassroots engagement of underserved communities.
He has an extensive track record working across industries and issues, with particular expertise developing communications programs to support land-use entitlements, environmental remediation, transportation planning and environmental review, large-scale infrastructure and public facilities, and construction communications, among others.
Abraham has especially deep knowledge of and proficiency with communications for environmental cleanup programs. In this capacity, he works on behalf of his clients in close coordination with oversight and regulatory agencies at all levels of government. His recent experience includes work with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA), California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD), Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, and several other water quality control boards across California.
Abraham is native to Los Angeles, deeply rooted in the East Los Angeles and Boyle Heights communities. He is fluent in Spanish and has special expertise in bilingual-bicultural outreach to Spanish-speaking communities. He is on the Board of Directors for Eastmont Community Center and volunteers his time to a multitude of community organizations such as Proyecto Pastoral at Dolores Mission, among others.
Abraham holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from California State University, Fresno.
